従来の通説では、元の時代は少数の庶民的・通俗的な書物が刊行されたのみで、出版文化は盛んではなかったと考えられてきたが、むしろそれを裏返すような事実が続々と挙げられている。著者の考証学、文献学的な素養に裏付けられた、斬新な視点での時代分析には感嘆させられる。史料としての価値だけでなく、モンゴル語研究を進める上でも参考になる点が多い。
